Let’s be honest, if everyone in the world is saying that they are never ever making hiccups on their journey to losing weight then they are lying! Today  I have had two cups of low calorie hot chocolate and some very cheesy comfort food to get me through an evening of scriptwriting before my due date tomorrow afternoon!

If you don’t love my tortoise mug, then you are wrong!

It is absolutely okay to make mistakes when you are on the journey to lose weight! Do you know why? Because you’re human and you are programmed to feel hella hungry when you get a whiff of those chocolate brownies being baked in the kitchen next door to your room!

Sure, it can feel like a bit of a set back when you only managed to burn 200 calories at the gym on the cross trainer the day before, making that whole session seem a waste after the 400 calories you’ve just consumed! But girl, you can’t live by punishing yourself! When you find yourself snacking on those “sinful” foods, just remember that you are constantly moving around, you’re climbing stairs, walking to work, running for the bus, sure, you might be no good at it (I’m breathless after like one flight of stairs!) but that doesn’t matter because even though you only managed 1 hour at the gym that week, you’ve basically been working out every other moment you’ve had since without knowing it!

Don’t forget to also not bring yourself down just because you didn’t manage to work out in the gym that week either. What I suggest if you’re feeling a little run down, is to just take the stairs instead of the lift, walk instead of take the bus, maybe not eat that snack and have a bottle of water instead! Little changes ladies, make the biggest of differences!

Speaking of water, this is another tip I have for you! Anyone who knows me well knows that I absolutely despise the taste of water! However, even I cannot deny that I have been seeing the amazing benefits it has been having on my skin and also that it does actually fill me up! Providing you’re having three meals a day plus tea in the evening if you do not have large portions, then often when you feel hungry it is not because you actually are, but purely because you are bored! My advice with this is to have a glass/bottle of water and if after that you still feel hungry (or your belly is begging for some snackin’!) then eat, but not before, as often by the time I’ve finished the water I have completely forgotten I was hungry in the first place!

I want all of you to remember that hiccups are okay, providing you don’t make too many of them! But after all, dieting isn’t about eating lettuce and celery sandwiches with a glass of water! It’s just about eating well and in good amounts, one of my favourite recipes I’ve learnt lately that is both light, and only 300 calories is Slimming World’s Tuna Pasta bake! I’ve left the recipe below so you lovely creatures can try it out!

Cheesy Tuna Pasta Bake:

Serves 4

  • 350g dried pasta shapes
  • 1 leek, trimmed and thinly sliced
  • 100g frozen spinach
  • 100g frozen sweetcorn
  • 250g plain quark
  • 175g fat-free natural fromage frais
  • 400g can tuna chunks in brine or spring water, drained
  • 75g reduced-fat Cheddar cheese, grated

  1. Preheat your grill to high.
  2. Cook the pasta according to the packet instructions, reducing the recommended cooking time by 2 minutes. Add the leek, spinach and sweetcorn for the last 4 minutes of the cooking time. Drain the pasta and vegetables and tip them back into the same pan.
  3. Stir in the quark, fromage frais, tuna and half the cheese. Season to taste and tip everything into a heatproof dish that will fit under your grill. Scatter over the remaining cheese and grill for 10 minutes.
  4. Serve hot with salad or your favourite vegetables.

Have a marvellous week everyone and remember to always stay positive!

With love,

Emma xxxx

P.S. I am thinking of making a recipes section on the blog where you can all get healthy options to swap out for junk food! Let me know what you think!
